COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Bookios provides a platform where users can share knowledge in a safe, respectful, and engaging environment. To ensure a healthy and sustainable community, compliance with the following rules is mandatory.

These rules apply to all users worldwide, including those in Turkey, Europe, the United States, and other regions. The content on the platform is moderated according to these guidelines and the legal frameworks of the respective regions.

1. General Rules

  • Respect and Courtesy: All users must treat each other with respect. Posts containing insults, profanity, threats, or harassment are strictly prohibited.
  • Compliance with Laws and Ethical Standards: Content must comply with local, national, and international laws, including but not limited to:
    • EU Laws (GDPR, Digital Services Act, Copyright Directive)
    • US Laws (CFAA, DMCA, COPPA, FCC Regulations)
    • UK Online Safety Act and Privacy Laws
    • General Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Laws
    • Posts that promote illegal activities, hate speech, or unethical conduct will be removed.
  • Respect for Copyrights: Users must comply with global copyright laws (DMCA in the US, EU Copyright Directive, Berne Convention) and may not share copyrighted materials without permission.
  • No Spam or Unsolicited Advertising: Commercial advertisements, spam, scams, phishing, or any misleading promotions are strictly prohibited.
  • Privacy Protection: Users may not share personal data, contact information, or private details of others without consent. Content violating privacy laws such as GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), or KVKK (Turkey) will be removed.
  • No Misinformation or Manipulative Content: False, misleading, or manipulative content that spreads disinformation, conspiracy theories, or fake news is strictly prohibited.

2. Prohibited Content

The following content will be immediately removed, and users who share such content may have their accounts permanently suspended:

  • Nudity, Sexual Content, and Exploitation (including child exploitation, revenge porn, and non-consensual content).
  • Violence and Extreme Gore (graphic violence, murder, torture, animal cruelty).
  • Harassment, Bullying, and Threats (including cyberbullying, doxing, and incitement to violence).
  • Self-Harm and Suicide Encouragement (including content promoting eating disorders, self-harm, or dangerous challenges).
  • Hate Speech and Discrimination: No content promoting racism, xenophobia, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, religious hatred, or discrimination against ethnicity, gender, nationality, religion, disability, or sexual orientation.
  • Terrorism and Extremism: No content that promotes terrorist organizations, extremist ideologies, or calls to violence.
  • Illegal Product and Service Sales: No promotion of illegal drugs, weapons, counterfeit goods, stolen data, or hacking services.
  • Scams, Fraud, and Fake Accounts: No pyramid schemes, phishing links, identity fraud, or deceptive financial activities.

3. Posting and Sharing Rules

  • No Defamation, Insults, or Threats: Users may not post defamatory, false, or harmful statements about individuals or organizations.
  • No Plagiarism or Copyright Infringement: Users must not copy and post others’ content without proper attribution or permission.
  • No Spam, Bots, or Automated Content: Repetitive, mass-posted, or bot-generated content will be removed.

4. Commenting and User Interactions

  • Respectful and Constructive Discussions: Comments should encourage meaningful discussions without hate speech, profanity, or personal attacks.
  • No Political Extremism or Incitement to Violence: While general political discussions are allowed, content inciting violence, spreading propaganda, or radicalizing audiences is prohibited.
  • Reporting and Moderation: Users can report inappropriate content using the "Report" button.

5. Book Reviews and Quotes

  • No Plagiarized Reviews: Users must write original reviews and not copy others' reviews verbatim.
  • Balanced Content: Reviews cannot only contain book excerpts; users must add personal opinions.
  • No Fake Quotes or Misinformation: Users cannot fabricate quotes or falsely attribute statements to authors.

6. Video and Image Sharing

  • No Copyright Violations: Users may not post movies, TV shows, music, or other copyrighted material without permission.
  • No Graphic or Explicit Content: Videos or images containing nudity, sexual content, extreme violence, or gore will be removed.
  • No Fake or Manipulated Media: Deepfakes, misleading edits, or AI-generated media intended to deceive must be clearly labeled.

7. Privacy and Data Protection

  • Cookies and Tracking: Bookios uses cookies and tracking technologies to enhance user experience in compliance with GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), and global privacy standards.
  • Personal Data Protection: User data (e.g., IP addresses, device information) is stored anonymously and legally protected.

8. Complaints and Content Removal

  • Users can report violations through the "Report" feature in the app.
  • Reports will be reviewed within 24 hours, and offending content will be removed.
  • Repeated rule violations will lead to temporary bans or permanent account deletion.

9. Updates and Policy Changes

  • Bookios reserves the right to update its community guidelines as necessary.
  • Users will be notified of major changes through email and app notifications.
